Army Train Memorial Day Run

After the local Memorial Day program at the cemetery(sparsely attended) I decided to assemble my army train and make a run with it to celebrate the day.

I was in the Transportation Corps and had the Cobra chopper and Sea Land trailers in my covoys. The tank celebrates my later serving in the local guard unit. I still need to get my gun jeep model on a flatcar and the die cast Huey I have.

Very nice. I like the first loco. Or the second, maybe.

They are old K-line locomotives. Didn’t I get one from you Bob? Front one is yours, second was eBay. Same mold as was used for the New Ray unmotored UP Geep over by the building.

Good idea and great tribute !
(thanks for your service Jerry)
Happy Memorial day

The gun jeep will sure look good on that train

Jerry that Army train is looking really nice, where did you get the tank and helicopter, do you have close ups of those cars? Thinking of doing a German inspired WWII train started with

Thanks Mark,
The tank was a cheap metal one I got at Hobby Lobby. The Cobra is a Revell 1/32nd kit I got on ebay. There is a guy that sells new decals for them. 4 different Vietnam schemes.
www.fireballmodels.info ALPS decals. Went on great. I like the German train idea, seen some neat ones, keep us posted. That metal duct tape I use would be good for embossing rivet/panel patterns into.

Jerry I did get a chance to run some of the other K-Line cars but never got the engine… Can not believe this is the best shot of the Army train… the_Other_Ray

Nice looking train. One of the nice things about being from an old small town is that memorial day is a big event. Lots turn out, the VFW does a very nice parade and ceremony. Our kids also say the pledge of allegiance in school.
Again, nice train and thanks for your service.
