Aristocraft's pacific loco

I am rebuilding a model of the streamlined Australian pacific loco known as the ‘Edward Henty’, an 'S" class used to haul the ‘Daylight Express Train’ from Melbourne to the Victorian border where it was replaced by a streamlined C38 class on the New South Wales section to Sydney. The change over was necessary because of different gauges used in each state (a problem to this day!).
Instead of rebuilding everything that has worn out, I thought I might be able to substitute an Aristocraft Pacific’s running gear. This would give me a much more reliable loco if it can work.
I need to know the length of the loco (without tender), the height and the width, and the length of the drive train (from front bogie to rear bogie. The size of the drive wheels would also help.
I have not been able to find any of this information on the Aristocraft site, but I noted a pictute of the Pacific and the Micado on the site - one on top of the other. It seemed to me that the Boiler/cab moulding was the same? The main difference being the drive train, with the Micado having smaller drive wheels. If this is so I have a live steam Mikado that I can use for the body measurements.
Your assisstance will be appreciated.

You’ll like the pacific drive and the whole drive block is held to the loco with 4 screws, so it’s easy to mount.

Unfortunately, my pacific is 250 miles away, so I can’t measure it for you.

I have a Pacific and a Mikado, and the cab and boiler shell are virtually identical. I’m not sure, though, if the live steam mikado has the same cab and shell-it sure looks like it

I’ll run out now and try to get you some quick measurements

Here are some very quick and dirty measurements, taken with a steel rule without disassembling the loco. Sorry it’s in inches

Length of drive block, from front mount to end of motor 10.75 inches

Width of the drive block (not including wheels) 1 and 3/8ths inches

height of drive block 1 and 5/8ths

Wheel height 2/75 inches

Again very quick and dirty–hope it’s useful

Thanks Mike for your prompt reply.

The ‘Edward Henty’ I have modelled seems to be quite different to the Aristocraft’s model of a Pacific Loco. The differences in size is astounding! I am modelling in 1:32 sacale (Aristocraft is 1:29) and I thought they might be close enough…but, except for the driver diameter the two locos are inches apart in the actual measurements of the main structures.

If you want to see the ‘S’ class streamlined loco google up Edward Henty locomotive - there is an excellent coloured drawing. My model is just as you see the drawing.

It looks like I will have to re-build the drive train, and set-up the running gear better than in the first attemt. The Loco runs, but is extremely noisy even though I have used a Pitman motor, - I think the problem may be in the gearbox configuration, it is all brass.

Grease it.

That’s a reallly great looking locomotive!

You might try cutting down an Aristo Mikado drive block–you can simply take one wheelset/gearbox off the Aristo drive block, it’s all modular. If I get a chance today I’ll measure the wheel size of the Mikado.

Oops–I just re-read your post–the driver diameter is the same.
