I have an early black box Aristocraft U25B that has a PH Hobbies sound board in it.
It has 4 AA rechargeable batteries that need to be replaced.
Are these NiCad or NIMH batteries? Does it matter which type are used?

NiCad AFAIK, yes don’t make them much smaller/larger (in amp hour capacity) since it is a very rudimentary charger circuit, and clearly don’t change the chemistry.
Can you post a picture of the board? I’m sort of “collecting” pictures to help people identify them over the years, since there were many variations in the boards themselves.
