Ouch! I have no idea what mine look like now after more than 7 years out in the weather. Before I pulled the plug 3 years ago they never gave me any trouble and all of them were in locations that flooded over in moderate rainfall.
I had left my layout power on 24/5 for a while, that’s 24v all the time… I think that helped accelerate the decomposition of the wires, and my track in that area was watered by sprinklers. I’ve got external microswitches in covered housings now for frog power. All is well in stainless steel town now.
