Aristo' Victorian Train Station

nothing popped up using the LSC search field so . . . . .

Did they ever tell us what scale the train station was ? I have a very faint memory of it being stated (over a decade ago somewheres out there on the 'net, by someone ---- 1:24 ?

thanks for your time !

p.s. ahhhh i just googled it and a olde TrainZ ad popped up where they state it is 1:24 . Alas, in this recent era of misinformation got to vett things from multiple (more than 2) sources ?

The search of “aristo craft victorian train station” results makes it appear that most think (when a scale is stated) it’s 1:24 but at least one site states that it’s 1:29. Since I have no experience with this structure, your guess should be as good as anyone’s. Maybe you’ll get lucky and somebody will definitively know. Perhaps you could use the given dimensions on some of the sites to determine the scale.

Good luck! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

I have the Aristo manual for it, part number ART-7100-01, and the first page of the manual states 1:29.

Now, if it is actually scaled at that, it would be surprising, I think these all started as Delton products.

In fact, if you look at the text in the manual, the line where the brand name and scale is stated is completely different spacing between words.

Greg

I have one and would say it is 1:24. No way is it 1:29.

I would guess that is true, since Delton never made anything 1:29… as I understand it, Aristo bought the molds, changed from resin (or something) to their light yellow plastic.

Only much later did Aristo get some molds for the C-16, but that is another story.

Greg

It’s definitely not 1/29, its far too large for 1/29, and Aristocraft never made any 1/29 scale structures.

What probably happened, is that somewhere back in the mists of time, someone had the thought:

“Aristocraft makes 1/29 scale rolling stock and locomotives, therefore, Aristocraft structures must also be 1/29 scale”

Then they put it on the internet somewhere…where it remains today.

Scot

It says 1:29 in the manual, so people naturally want to believe the manufacturer… (giggle)

The door on my Aristo station is just over 3.5 inches. For 1/24 that is just over 7 feet. Mine is the winter/Xmas version.

To be honest when it comes to structures scale is somewhat of a moot point. Real life structures vary so much it is difficult to nail down what is truly “scale” Take for example the door height of 3.5". If you claimed it was a modern door with an 80" height, then your depot scales out to be 1:22.8 (LGB Scale) Considering it is an older design, the door would most likely be taller up to 96". Therefore if you said it was an 8’ door, the scale would be 1:27.5. A 3.5" tall door in 1:24 would be 84" In 1:29 scale the door would scale out to 101.5", which is over sized for a building of this style. The same logic can be applied to wall height and window size.

When it comes to structures, there are really only 3 things that you need to worry about. Are the doors and walls tall enough your figures look correct next to them? Does it fit the scene you want? Does it look good to you?

As Mickey Mantle told the Senate hearing on baseball anti-trust, “My views are just about the same as Casey’s.”

Just for the heck of it, I know it isn’t on topic, and Chris Kieffer makes perfect sense, but, sorry, I can’t resist. The funniest part is when the Senator says to Mickey, “If you will redefine us what Casey’s views were, we’d be glad to know!”

edit: Casey was a riot!

Doug,

Honestly scale matters not to me as I’m more about how the eye travels. I think I have that station somewhere in my yard but it’s been out there for a decade cause I don’t care. However it makes for nice background scenery when I decide to enjoy one of the parts of the hobby I enjoy.

Thank You ALL for the input !

I have a MNIB unit … still have the styro’peanuts in the box. The version that Todd showed.

I’ll go with 1:24th, when I get a chance to post it the appropriate sub-forum (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Nite !

Does it have the “manual” too? If not, email me and I’ll send it to you.

Greg

Thanks Greg !

Should have everything, never been opened, see thru one of the box ‘windows’ what looks to be a small sheet of peelable ‘signage’ Christmas related !?
