Hi all,
I’m converting a friends Aristo long Vanderbilt tender to oil. I know the capacity of the oil tank, but I want to decal the water capacity. Anyone have a guess what it would be? 10,000 Gallons?
I’ll post some pics when it is done. The oil tank is all built, but just in primer right now.

John, A fairly common size seems to be 15’000gal, but try to come up with a “logical” fuel to water ratio. I’m stymied by the different coal used and how that relates to the BTU count for oil.
© NEB&W Guide to Steam Locomotive Components RMRRS Perhaps you have better luck. Or you can take the measurements and compare.
I think the aristo tender is longer than that one.
It is.
It’s longer than the LGB Mike that pulls it!

So it’s a “long distance tender”. One capy I came across for those is 20’500 gal.
And another one in reference to PRR engines
