Aristo U25B strip down?

I picked up a nice Aristo U25B and am in the process of taking it apart for battery and control and paint and such but I can’t seem to figure out how to get the end of the long hood off. Any ideas?

I have the Aristo PDF dated from 1993 or so but it’s not real clear how that end piece is held on. Mine seems to be glued? I can’t get to the screws to remove the switch board without that coming off. What am I missing?

Been a long time since I’ve had a U boat apart.

Slide the ends down (or, when the shell is inverted as you show in your photos, up).

The plates holding circuit boards and switch plates is screwed to the end, should all come out together, if I remember. What’s it been 10, 12 years since I had one apart?

Hope that’s right.

Mine is really tight, I’ve stressed it in various ways to try to snap it apart without breaking anything. I’m thinking someone down the line glued it to ‘fix’ it or something. Hmm. Got it cheap and there is an enormous amount of room inside for experiments.

If you think it might be glued, try freezing it in your reefer, then hit it with hot tap water. Then a light tap with a jeweler’s hammer should break any remaining bonds.

Thanks Steve. I got it fixed over the weekend. It was glued, and I did more or less what you said. I let it sit out in my shop overnight in the cold and warmed it up the next day. I smacked it sharply around the sides and it came loose. Nice.

I’m gutting it and putting in my latest DCC wireless control system and a 2200mah lipo. Lots of room in there! I’m also re-did the windows, the couplers and the grills. A bit of paint and it’s not looking too bad. It looks a bit toy like out of the box so I had to do something to it

I’m considering sticking one of these in there- http://www.parts-express.com/tang-band-t1-1942sb-speaker-module--264-934 and driving it with this econami HO decoder I have. Hmm. Passive radiator and 75hz low end.
