ARISTO SD 45 WHEEL

I have been asked by a fellow UK modeller if anyone on LSC knows where a spare wheel for an ARISTOCRAFT SD45 AND fixing screw can be obtained in the USA?

It’s apparently a desert here in the UK for such stuff.

Thanks in anticipation.

Ross.

He could get in touch with Navin at:

http://shop.crest-electronics.net/main.sc

He did have some Aristo spares.

Alternatively, a new axle and wheel assembly could be purchased from Northwest Shortline NWSL.com

I mention that because sooner or later Navin will be unable to help the Aristo orphans out there.

Ross your friend would almost be better off buying a complete motor block from RLD and keep the rest for parts http://rldhobbies.com/art29355.aspx

As far as I can tell, NWSL has the “SD45” wheels, with the “taper fit” bore in them.

My reason for posting is that the metal half axles are NOT available as far as I know, and there is no source for them. These are hollow and will actually bend/distort if you drop the loco on the wheels.

Below is a picture of the metal half axle, and in this case it is bent. They cannot be bent back AFAIK.

NWSL sells the wheels, but not the axles as far as I can tell. Perhaps you confused the 2 axle block axle/wheelset with the 12 pack of SD45 wheels?

Greg

Thanks a lot everyone for your input. Think he now has organised himself…however if he fails he can contact the retaillers mentioned above.

Thank You all.

Ross.

Greg, I guess I was mistaken. I thought I had read somewhere that NWSL sells the whole wheel/axle/gear assembly as a drop in type assembly for the SD.

My excuse is, I am a steam guy.

No problem… it is a part that is going to be in very short supply. It would be great if someone made them, they can be damaged relatively easily.

What you probably heard was about the older 2 axle parts, and someone stretched that to the “prime mover” parts.

I was surprised to see that they DO indeed sell the parts for the older motor blocks, which is something good, since they fail also.

Regards, Greg

If these wheels are available from NWSL how about a part number? Later RJD

It’s on their web site, and easy to find. I can’t do everything (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
