Aristo Revo alternatives? Any info on the new Revo?

Please…No negatives, I’m begging here.

I run both track (DC) and battery, always have, always will. That said, I am having an impossible time advancing the R/C side of my hobby due to the lack of equipment from Aristo. I have chosen the Revo for track power as it was the only clear choice for track supplied DC, this will not change.

I saw a “controller” that had a “turn knob” for R/C and for the life of me I cannot find it…Can anyone help point me in the way? (Thought my search skills were ok, but not today!).

Lastly, any word on if/when new steam Revo’s will become available?

Answers to the above would help me make a choice…Most appreciated!

Mark

Ah, found it…Airwire. Like the controller, but not 2.4Ghz…Will keep looking. Thanks anyway!

Mark,
I am using the revo and am very happy with it. Some sound modules are still available and more are supposed to be arriving in the middle of February.

Nico, I hear you…I love the Revo, I just cannot expand due to lack of receivers. You say there are some available? With steam sounds?

I need to make a choice with spring right around the corner, I want to complete some conversions before the weather gets nice. I do not want to be “stuck” with a bunch of empty shells waiting for receivers. I was looking for an alternative but it does not appear to be what I thought it was…Oh well, back to waiting!

Mark I too run track power and battery, track power on my own track and I belong to a club that uses only battery power. I use the earlier Revo and Pheonix sound in my locos. I have a Bachmann K27 and a Connie that are set up to use either battery or track at the flip of a switch. An early generation Bachmann Shay that is strictly battery and an Annie that is strictly track power. I am very happy with my Revo and this setup works good for me.

So the original question was “are there any other controllers compatible with the Aristo Revo system”? NO

They released the diesel, and then took some of the diesel ones and reprogrammed them to steam… now I think they are out. Should be 3 months or so based on their previous manufacturing cycle.

There might be a few people with them, but with Aristo’s switch to direct sales, no one seems to be stocking anything any more.

Still I would get on the phone and call around.

Mark, according to a post a few days ago by Lewis on the Aristo board, they expect the steam decoders in stock the week of Feb 10 - 15th.

I also wish the Revo throttle had a knob instead of the pushbuttons. It’s just a bit more intuitive, I think.

Hmmm, when I edit the reply, all my line spaces disappear. … And when I go back in to add them again, it doubles them.

Edit again, put in carriage returns, but no blank lines… then you will get a single blank line when saving.

Go figure.

Greg

Well Aristo just sent out an email many of you likely got…Revos are back in stock. Now the question is how badly to I blow my budjet, 3 or 6?

…Went for 6, I will not be caught short-handed this summer!
