Ok I got my aristo trucks on the flat car for my climax. Im an idiot when it comes to wiring. When I hook the wires up together im guessing I hook up the black and red wire from one truck to the other black and red wire on the other truck and then do the same for the blue and green wire? Now my next question is I put the trucks so they are faceing opposite directions that way the wires come out of the trucks towards the center. Do I hook the wires up opposite red and black to green and blue? If so what colors go to each other red and green or red a blue? What if I was using only one truck what do you do with the wires?
I think I figured out part of it. Red and black wires are for the engine they go together and the pickups are the green and blue. Baseed off the arrangment I have (the trucks are facing opposite so the wires on the one truck does not have to stretch as far to get to the center) the red goes to red black goes to black then power pick up wires should be crossed because I have the trucks opposite? Green to blue???
Pooooffff!
I don’t know, never had an Aristo truck in hand but it sounds right?
Maybe wait till someone who actually knows something about this Shawn. Look at the feathers on that bird, I think he’s gone Pooooofff more than once.
Shawn, Since you don’t have the plug in board Aristo uses, connect the black truck wire to the blue motor lead and the red truck wire to the green motor lead on both trucks. Then test. Now that you know which direction the trucks are running in you can mount them in your build so they rotate the same. Don’t worry about saving wire you’ll only need 3" extra. Contact if you need more help
Shawn said:this almost makes sense...but...can you not snip and add some length of wire? Do you have a meter to read what is happening inside the wires when you place on the track (or your test track)? You gotta remember you need to get the p/u wire into the motor--typed as Dave posted...see his thoughts!

I’ve found that having a 9v battery with some of those Radio Shack snap on clips with short wires help.

For a Really easy wiring deal, howabout getting some of those Aristo Ends with wire leads and just plug and play across the bed of your flat car?
now down here, we just gut the entire thing-solder on some new stuff and toss a few batteries in
good luck-cale
edit for worse grammer
Dave Marconi said:Thanks Dave that helped. My next question is can it be wired so I can get pickup from all eight wheels to both motors? That way if I have one truck on the tracks the other will still go even if off the rails. Eventually Im going to hook it up to battery but still have the option to use track power. Thats not unil later.

Cale,
Once Shawn does convert to battery power, you should open a book on how long it takes him to ignore the track power part completely and run battery only from then on.
OK
- Black to Blue
- Red to Green
- Repeat for other truck
- Test and note direction of wheel rotation. They should rotate in the same direction
- Mount both trucks to chassis with the wire harnesses in the same direction. This will put one harness near the end of the chassis and one harness to the middle of the chassis
- Cut a length of wire ( 22 guage should be fine) long enough to reach between the black/blue wire of one truck and the black/blue wire of the other truck. Connect the wire at each end
- Cut another length of wire long enough to reach between the two red/green wire pairs. Connect this wire at both ends.
- Get out your colored pencils and make a drawing of the chassis and wiring in color and mark each wire. Should have ten wires labeled when you’re done.
This will help trace problems if you have any and when you convert to battery you’ll know which wires you have to cut.
Hope this helps
Thanks Hollywood that helped. This will be my project for today. Thanks again
Do you need any power up in the cab for lights?
Send it to me, if you are unsure. I will remove all the wiring and rewire everything properly, in the center, including a plug for a light. All you have to pay is postage both ways.
Thanks John for the offer. I did manage to get everything wired and it works perfect. I needed to learn this sooner or later LOL. For lights im only doing a front light but plan on doing that with a battery that way when I run electric the light stays bright no matter what speed I have it set.
good luck. might check fred’s web site for some help
