Aristo Pacific 4-6-2

I have an Aristo Pacific 4-6-2 and the engines drive wheels keep jumping the track usually the center two drive wheels. I took the drive assembly apart and all the springs and parts are there. I wonder if I should buy new drive wheels. Have any of you had similar problems or any suggestioins???

Yes, but please give a little more information.
Like, old or new style?
What is the wheel gauge?
G1MRA and current nmra is 1.575" back-to-back.
Is this on curves?
If so, what radius?
Is this on turnouts?
If so, what frog # and whose manufacture?

Thanks.

TOC

I believe it is the old style where the wheels are attached to the axle with a washer and screw assembly. This happens on straight or curve track. Another individual suggested that the wheels were not 1/4 correctly, and I am not sure what is ment by quartered. However It does seem that the drive rods are pushing the center drive wheels up ans then they stradle the reail.

I have all stainless steel track code 332 by Aristo with nothing smaller than an 8 foot surve.

If it’s a really old version then it’s most likely out of gauge…gauged too narrow. Though it should be ok on straights. These locomotives had real problems with turnouts as they rode up on the guard rails. It sounds like yours is gauged too wide and the rails are pinching the wheels. Check the back to back as TOC suggested. If the locomotive was out of quarter you would most likely get binding and a bent drive rod.
