Aristo 40% off list price direct sale to the consumer

Hi guys:

So I checked the website. No heavyweights in stock, no Sierra cars in stock, no C-16 loco in stock. There is no sale for me!
The most sure fire way to ruin your business relation with your dealer network, essential to remain in business, is to sell direct to the public at or below dealer cost.

What is going on at Aristo?

Norman,
Aristo is not going to clearance sale items that are in demand. Hence, the supposed sale is to their benefit to clear slow moving inventory. In so far as undercutting their wholesale network (dealers), well, if the dealers were selling the items then they would not be in Aristo’s inventory and would be on dealers’ shelves already.

Forget the C-16. It was announced months ago that the bumble bee would be the only C-16 to be built in the future. Seems a shame to invest capital in a new improved 'prime mover' drive and then shelve the product. However, the C-16 line was simply not selling well enough. All the Classic range has gone the way of its predecessor heritage, Delton Lines.

Man, that is one sad website. I guess their dealers are safe.

Hi Tim:

Yes, HLW has also announced that it has suspended production of their short and long cars.
The Delton Classics box car is very nice.
Seems such a shame that 1:24 scale is now history. The model size is a perfect compromise to appeal to both the indoor and outdoor hobbyist.
Too bad that Delton had not really gone out on a limb when large scale was at its infancy and produced 1-1/2" gauged track for the proper narrow gauge look.
The 1/8" error on each side of the loco does not bother me. What does bother me is the ridiculous high rails which are necessary for outdoor trackwork.
So everything is a compromise. However, the market place has firmly adopted 1:20.3 scale and firmly rejected 1:24 scale. I have firmly adopted 1:24 scale and rejected 1:20.3 scale as the models are too large for my available space. I guess that I am just a die hard rebel!

Hartland Locomotive Works is not only discontinueing their coaches, but also the Interurban & Birney.
It appears they have decided to focus on their “Mini’s”, where they have no competition.
Ralph

Well that sucks Ralph, wanted one of those Birneys to donate to my Local Trolley museum. :frowning:

Nick

Also if you figure out exactly the discount on the few items that ARE “in stock” at Aristocraft, it is still higher pricces than many online dealers are selling for anyway…

I would agree however that I’m my short amount of time trying to naivigate the website “shopping” it was clunky to say the least. No sales from me…

That sucks I was hoping to obtain a Birney down the line. Glad the minis are still alive.
