Argo Mill and Tunnel

This is a great photo of the Argo Mill in Idaho Springs, CO, before it was painted bright red.

We drove past it on the way to Georgetown Loop RR last October. Yep, quite different painted all red now. Would love to do the mill and mine tour there someday.

We stopped last fall on a whim after a ride up Clear Creek Canyon (Rt 6, my favorite drive a short distance from Denver). It was a long wait for the next tour with tickets available, so we passed. I really want to do that, and the silver mine tour at the Loop. Maybe next time.

Sounds like we just missed each other, Jon.

Last October was the first trip to Denver for us, and it was mainly focused on Estes Park (awesome), but we need to do Clear Creek next time, and Argo, and Silver Plume (it was too late in the season for the GTL to stop there for any length of time).

I was there in the middle of September. There is so much RR history in that area. Most of it is gone but there are traces. The road from Como to Breckenridge crosses the continental divide on an old roadbed. There is still a tank on the way up from Como and the section camp at the summit still exists. On the way into Breckenridge there is a RR Park with a stuffed and mounted Loco and cars. Another stuffed Loco in Idaho Springs.

Only doing this because I had no freaking clue as to what you guys were talking about. The red really ruins it in my opinion. Actually the red body ain’t bad but the red roof just wrecks it.
However this is ONLY my opinion.

This has Devon written all over it.

Never heard of the guy myself John.

Well i must have dementia
