Archer releases new 'G' scale rivets

Archer Fine Transfers has just released a new set (4 sets actually) of rivets advertised as ‘G’ scale (I’m guessing 1/32 scale but that’s just a guess).

They say .027" or .034" diameter, so do the math for your chosen flavor. Nice variety of patterns and spacing.

Ok, that’s cool…I am likely blind, but where does it tell you how many linear inches of rivets do you get?

If you click on each item, you get the description which tells how many linear inches.

One thing it doesn’t say is whether these are round rivets, or conical. I’m also curious as to how much they stick up?

Interesting… Resin rivets on decal sheet. What won’t they think of next?

I had an email conversation with them a while ago and was told by Woody that the O scale rivets were only 0.005" tall. I guess they have found a way to make them taller! I’ll ask.

Woody is sending me a sheet - stay tuned.

I got the set and tried them on a small section of my EBT M-1.

I painted some of them some grey primer to see what happens to the film. The black are the originals without paint. All are single lines of rivets laid adjacent and offset to get the double row effect. They are quite realistic 0.75" rivets (1:20th scale.) The instructions were helpful (confirming what I know about laying decals!) Use a decal assist fluid. The decals are very delicate - I found it quite difficult to lay them in a straight line, and one or two detached themselves - not sure if the resin detail fell off or the decal film split. You will note there is no sign of the film. I liked them. The delicate nature is necessary if you don’t want the film to show. Part of my problem was laying two adjacent strips on a thin surface. With a custom layout it would be much easier - and Woody indicates that custom work is available so you can have the rivets laid out to your exact pattern. Here’s another shot.
