AR2 Circuitron?

Recently purchased an AR2 Circuitron reverse controller for my outdoor trolley system. Being relatively new to the hobby, I did not realize that this unit apparently has to be re-adjusted as the outdoor light conditions change. It works perfectly when both sensors at the opposite ends of the track line are exposed to the same light conditions. However, if one end of the track is in light and the other in shade, it throws the light sensors off. Anyone dealt with this problem on their outdoor layout?

John, anything with an optical controller is designed for use indoors, where light can be controlled. As you are learning, outdoors can be very tricky.

About the only thing that I can suggest is some sort of shade device.

Good luck.

One more thing, is the circuit board in a weather proof enclosure?

Might be best to go with something that was designed for your application.

Thanks…I do have all my train controls in a covered weather proof box. My next step will be to build a trolley stop/station at each end, thus providing equal lighting conditions. I already bought and wired the unit. Too late for a return. I will try to figure it out with the shade idea.
