Large Scale Central

Apropos of nothing

It could be train related…in it’s own sense…

Bruce,

Looking forward to the “instant recall” sequel.

We all have those days, Bruce…it’s just that some of us don’t notice them, and keep on chuckling…

I usually "He He He" through most of my days, as watching the general public go by in the streams of life, is only bearable with a great sense of humour.....

I have my little place of solitude, up at Carleton place, at a pub, by the river, where I can just sit with a cool bheer and “Watch the water going over the dam”.

Maybe we can visit there this year during the Invasion, on a visit to MCCurdy’s place. It’s just down the road from him; called “The LeatherWorks”. Across the river (The Mississippi) from the patio, is the Carleton Place town hall…

Un-beleivable…Didn’t know Andy Capp was Canadian…

Oh dear!!!
Must a Canadian joke.
I am afraid I don’t get it.
Nor do I see what it has to do with trains.

Someone please put me out of my misery and explain it to me.

I didn’t know anyone was still doing the Andy Capp strips. Haven’t seen one in over 20 years. Haven’t missed it either.

I didn’t know Andy Capp lived on Starwwod Dr in Nepean… Far out…

Unless you've travelled through SE Ontario you didn't know the Mississippi river went through there.

Did you guys notice the "Second " MILLS, who has joined the happy group…!!!

Yea. The second one isn’t Canadian…Noo Joizy!

I did know that........as a matter of fact.............visited a RR museum near there.......;)

Ken…

You and I were leading the “2007 Invasion Mystery Tour”, when I pointed out that we were about to cross the “Mississippi River”. It was just before we stopped for breakfast in Arnprior, Ontario. We usually call this area of Ontario; “The Eastern Region”, or “Eastern Ontario”.

…on another point…

I once had a cousin by the name of “Bob Mills”. He was quite a good hockey player, playing goal for the Toronto “Balmy Beaches” of the old Ontario Hockey League.
He became a very successful stock broker, but his life ended about 20 years or more ago, in a single car accident outside of Toronto.

Yea, Fred, remembered the river, couldn’t remember the town…

Fred and Ken,

I think I remember that this was mentioned to the rest of the tour, but it was also established that this was not the same Mississippi River as the one in the lower 48, that is also know as the “Big Muddy”. We also have another river in southern Illinois really called the “Big Muddy”, but it is also not the “Mississippi River” that “Ole Man River” was written about. This does not mean it isn’t a well established river, but heading south on it will not get you to pass in front of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Though people could try, and with some minor portaging could succeed at this endeavor.

The one up here is known as the “Elder Muddy”, it was always muddy…!!!
We also have the Carp River, not too far from it, but closer to Ottawa, on who’s banks the local Hokky entertainment Club flaunts it’s loosing ways…it is little less than a drainage ditch these days with the so-called civilization of urban expansion eroding it’s home.
