It may have come to some of your attention that a “rumor” was circulating at the ECLTS about Bachmann finalizing negotiations to purchase Accucraft. That was all me. I had about three minutes left of a ten minute noon break during a seminar I was attending when I posted this bogus thread over on the “other” website’s Public Forum". I really didn’t think it was all that bad! In fact, the first person to answer the post alluded to the fact that it was April 1st (actually, he asked if the date had anything to do with the post’s content!)
I had a good chuckle when TOC mentioned he asked the Bach-man about it and they hadn’t heard anything about it! I got a congrats on the post (which made my day!) A couple of other people also thought it was pretty good too!
Apparently though, there were some people that believed it and some of those were reps from Bachmann and/or Accucraft! (oops!) I can now add my name to the list of august personages that have been reprimanded by the “other” site’s webmaster (and he didn’t do it in a back-channel e-mail either! He posted it!)
Personally, I think that we all need to lighten up! It was an April Fool’s post fer chrissakes!! Still, I took the high road and sent an e-mail to Accucraft and posted on the Bachmann forum my apologies for any problems that might have occured. (*Sigh) There was a time when something like this would have been appreciated for what it was. Now, it seems like everything is a Federal case! Sheesh! So, I got publicly “spanked”!!
I guess the phrase “its April 1” doesnt mean much to some people. Geez, Id buy a beer for the guy that came up with that one.
Did ja see where “the other site’s webmaster” said that another website was purchasing … nah,too good to be true.

Dont you worry about it Steve, and dont beat yourself up about it. It was a cool prank and I knew it was a joke from the first moment. The issue is not about ‘the other site’ or Shad and the Bachmann not having a sense of humour, the reality simply is the western world has forgotten about April 1st, and just cant take a joke without getting upset. Shad was only protecting his site from the crap that he got from it. It wasn’t fair on either of you.
The fact is, lawyers and arbiters have decided on our behalf what we’re allowed to make fun of, and we just cant name names anymore, unless your a tabloid…in which case everyone knows the content is BS!!
Next time, stick it to them by not naming names, but making it clear who its about!!

As to ‘the other site’ crap, frankly folks, it is what you make it, nothing more, nothing less. Dont offend, and you wont be either. I enjoy lots of sites, and dont get into personalities or politics, just build and share is what I do…I go where the people are and where I can learn a few things. If I dont post often here, simply because I’ve not found much to comment on. I do visit daily.

Actually, there is a difference in the way cultures look at things, which is where the problem came from.
