Large Scale Central

Anyone with a Bachmann K-27?

Yes, he probably does.

BTW, if anyone has ever seen a USA Hudson…drive is similar.

I just picked that up somewhere.

I also picked up that if you need more power, just remove the flywheel and put a squirrel cage on the shaft…the cooling fan will give you a tad more speed.

But, you know, those are just rumors.

Bruce,

Go here for a look @ the socket…

But Bruce; those are tough questions you know…we seem to have people who only select questions that are most to their advantage, leaving the rest to speculation.
How do you read a post, and fail to see the question; this far into the thread, let alone your question that came a bit later…

Not impressed with the Madd Hatter and his Tea Party… I wish B’mann great success in their “K” production, but fear they may have taken on a poor “Partner” in their travels.

There was an interesting bit, thrown out on the Chat this evening. Not real news, but finally made public…

Thanks, Bob. Must have missed that one.

I wonder if anyone has any close ups of the socket. At any rate, it looks like they are at least using different colored wires, so it should be easy to cut out. It sure doesn’t sound like it makes anything easy to install.

Looks to be very easy to remove. Of course, that’s just a rumor.

…it seems to indicate that the board shown, is "Revision (Rev) “A”. Will "Revision (Rev) “B”, be for the next run, with more surprises…!!!

I’m interested in the idea of a second "Mad Hatters’ Tea Party, with the same actors, or additional ones for more comedy…!!!

So far, from the photos shown, up until now; coversion could be as easy as snipping a few wires and removing 4 screws, then just fitting in a simple R/C receiver, with batteries.

Only complication would be if you want noise and Christmas Lights…!!!

I wonder if the Track/Battery switch actually Isolates the Motor from either? Seems the soldering Iron and I would have a blast un-doing all those joints…nah…gimmie my dykes! cale and board manf in Sept of 07…that was close to promised street date huh?

Rumor has it that if you connect “batteries” to the “battery” terminals, and flip the switch, the SOB will take off at Warp Factor 2.
That is really a “throttle” connection, just like the plugs hanging out the end of an Aristo loco.

Rumor also has it that one K-27 is running right now on radio/battery.

Rumor also has it that one can simply install screw terminals into the pads provided along the edge, and leave the dummy Ames Super Socker plug out, but all you are doing is using the entire board holding the Ames Super Socket as a terminal point.
Simply removing the board and clipping the wires, from rumors I have heard, will allow a simple, neat installation of anything you want to put into it.

Rumor also has it the coal pile is not hinged as on the prototype, and that water diversion channels have been provided, but that a “gap” has been left behind the coal retaining doors, so said water will simply flood the floor.
I have been made aware that this is an easy fix.

There is space accidently provided for a proper on/off and volume control switch, or so I have been led to believe.

Rumor also is that it goes around LGB 1600 curves just fine.

Dontcha just love these rumors?

Pass me the snips… I mean all that stuff included as standard? do me a favour.

I t'ink it is a Good Thing that I have no need for a K ... all this aggro, it could burst my safety valve ;)

Looks like Dave has found a locomotive that resembles a 1:20.3, “K” type …I wonder …

I had cancelled my copies of GR, but am going to pick up the one with the review of the “K”, just to see who does the review…!!!..I guess that will be in about 3 months…

Hi Dave, Fred and all the rest of you.

Haven’t had time to participate for the last few years, but I’m back, and happy as the devil to see that my favorites haven’t changed a bit. I think.

Got to get a K now that Lee broke down and let it out, no more gear jobs to do, are there??

John
