Thanks,

Ya know,

One thing nice about this forum is you learn something new every day.

LBI = “Long Beach Island”.

Thanks, acronym finder websites…

Nico,

I haven’t been there in decades. I don’t think I would recognize the place. Used to be a great place to go clammin’ and crabbin’.

Bob if you go to LBI looking for clams you can still get crabs, but at least they can treat that these days…:open_mouth:

Always a smarta$$ is the crowd. :slight_smile:

Seriously, I spent many a summer at my grandparents place there, on the bay getting cuts on my heels clamming with the bushel basket inside the inner tube. I miss those fresh clams in chowder (Manhattan style). The blue crabs were fantastic if they were cooked as soon as they came in off the boat.

So, far I have helped one person, learn what LBI stands for, and I have learned, that I can get crabs, if I do not get a fresh clam, but still nothing related to trains. This is the last time I go to this island. Lol

Nico,
We were there in July at Sister in Law’s place to see the new nephew twins. There is one hobby shop in a strip mall along the main drag. I haven’t been in it for years, but was good place for supplies. As you cross the cause way, you are traveling the route the trains used to travel. The main road going north toward Barnegatt Light is the route the rails took for an earlier generation of tourists. There is a nice little museum on a side street up by the light and also one south of the causeway. A fairly new museum with railroad buildings is being put together on the road heading straight west off the island about 2 miles out and there is always Tuckerston Museum south on Highway 9, home of the Tuckerton Sail Car.
