Starting bids are reasonable, just sign on the dotted line, and forever be in debt for moving costs hahaha

I want the mogul

I like the mogul as well, always had a soft spot for logging lokies  Iā€™ll start the bidding on the mogul if you pay for the shipping Devon haha

For some reason I think I am getting the raw end of this deal. It is in pieces so someone will have to pony up the restoration cost. I think that will make shipping seem cheap.

New tubes to re-start the boiler would start at about $100K and go up quickly. Thats why there are so many locos setting in parks on display.

True, ill help with getting the pieces delivered. Now we just need someone to fund the restoration and buy a couple miles of track for us to run it on

Anyone that would be buying either loco with the thought of restoring it to running condition, would be crazy to bid on it before doing an FRA approved ultra-sonic test of the boiler shell first. One small bad area, is a BIG GAME CHANGER, could be 3-400K added expense.

Dave quit ruining our funā€¦(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif). I already asked my wife and she said no anyways.

Her problem is she seems to think it will be ugly in the front yard. I donā€™t see it but you know how women can be. Seems to think the neighbors might not like it; and she didnā€™t care for my response that I donā€™t like them, so we will be even.

Sounds to me like you need new neighbors (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)If you put a cooking grate in the firebox it would make one heck of a grill, big enough for the whole neighborhood to come by, everyone likes a good grill, and you would have the biggest in town(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif) or we could just put it in the house (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

I just spit my coffee on my desk and ruined my calendar. That is honestly my new favorite RR picture. I have seen many pictures of things I want to model but this will have to find a place in my layout.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

How do you drive a locomotive through the wall. This had to be one exciting run away. Just think on this a second.

This is before radios, so your sitting in the engine house sweeping the floor or doing whatever you do and all of a sudden you here the shriek of a whistle. Distant at first but increasingly getting louder. Now your thinking, there isnā€™t a locomotive due at the shop. It gets louderā€¦ you hear the roar of the iron beast as it approaches. You look out the door just in time to see a bellow of black smoke and a thundering locomotive heading your way. It shoots past you as you dive out of the way, Fred is frantic his eyes as big as saucers as he leaps on top of you in a hasty exit from the cab and ā€¦ boom it slams though the back wall. You quickly run outside and there are the girls from the local Sunday School dressed in there finest staring at this locomotive hanging out the back wall.

Sally looks at Jane and exclaims ā€œwell thatā€™s something you donā€™t see every dayā€ Then everyone yells ā€œselfieā€

It never ceases to amaze me that just about every disaster back in the day was an opportunity to pose for a picture.

It looks like it happened in a roundhouse. That loco could have smouldered overnight and built enough pressure to start moving. Or had a leaky valve. Many roundhouses required locos to be chained up (like rabid dogs!!) so this wouldnā€™t happen.

Terry

Iā€™d pay $200 to anyone who could make me a 1:24 scale model of each of the men in this picture! What a great bunch of guys!

You chauvinist what about the three very nicely dressed ladies.

Hahahahaha I needed this laugh (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)I can picture the scene now lol I think every layout needs something like this on it, it just might on mine when I build an indoor shelf layout someday(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif) And this picture just goes to prove that even back in the day everyone was worrying about how to get the perfect selfie hahaha

Ha! Actually the girls remind me of the girl in Rembrandtā€™s ā€œNightwatchā€; what the HECK are they doing there?

I vote for selfie in both cases (did they have cell phones in the 1660s?).
