Large Scale Central

Anyone in the area of Nebraska?

I have no interest in this auction but I just saw this on Ebay and it is a lot of trains for what seems like short money.

BIN for $1800 and have an instant empire. A great deal for someone looking to get in.

Methinks grandpa finally cashed in his chips and the kids are selling off the “junk.”

He’s in North Platte. I know him had some health issues. He has a nice Aristo Mikado, looks like quite a bit of other stuff. Have not been up there for a few years. He was in Texas in the VA hospital for a long time. Probably a good deal, have to contact him for details.

Yea, but how do I get to disassembled and mailed to my house? That would take a whole lot of postage stamps.

Send the money to Jerry, and give him half of the proceeds for his time and trouble and shipping?

Greg

No thanks guys. I don’t need the hassle, my back agrees!

Yeah, he even wants a pile of gravel removed!

Ah, Nebraska land,
Sweet Nebraska land
Upon thy burning soil I stand
And I look away across the plains
And I wonder why it never rains

We’ve reached the land of desert sweet
Where nothing grows for man to eat
And the wind that blows with every sheet
Across those plains so hard to beat

That’s Nebraska land,
Sweet Nebraska land
Upon thy burning soil I stand
And I look away across the plains
And I wonder why it never rains

We have no wheat, we have no oats
We have no corn to feed our shoats
Our chickens are so very poor
They beg for crumbs outside our door

In Nebraska land,
Sweet Nebraska land
Upon thy burning soil I stand
And I look away across the plains
And I wonder why it never rains

Our horses are a bronco race
Starvation stares them in the face
We do not live, we only stay
Cause we’re too poor to move away

From Nebraska land,
Sweet Nebraska land
Upon thy burning soil I stand
And I look away across the plains
And I wonder why it never rains

No reason, been wanting to post this somewhere, this seamed about as appropriate …being in Nebraskaland

Taking that layout apart and hauling it away will be a huge project. So if the buyer has to do that, and it looks like they will, $1800 is no bargain. Just getting all those posts out of the ground will be a job.

Vic, I like the poem.

Roger Welsh is a humorist from Nebraska, written several books, one about restoring old tractors.

Nebraska is finally out of the drought we’ve had for years. Had good summer rains, for a change. Pasture grew well.

Very solid construction. but it doesn’t look very modular.

I wish I had $1800. I’d make the drive then take a chainsaw to the layout. I think the seller may be hard pressed to get someone to take the whole thing down. I could see someone taking the electronics track and trains and just leaving.

But did you see, the pile of boxes were Bachmann. I don’t think the used track (brass) and the used (Bachmann) trains are worth the price. I mean, including the labor to dismantle the layout.

Think i would need the 1800.00 to take it .

Paul said he sold the railroad on eBay. Guy and his wife are coming out from Indiana to pick it up. I see there is another whole railroad for sale for about $5K, but it’s indoor.

Went for $1200.
