Anyone else entering the Durango Dan contest?

Looks like Dan’s starting off the year with a bang…

I think I’m going to send in my Davenport bash … as it’s the only thing I’m SURE will be complete by the end of the contest. While that means I probably won’t win, as folks will try to make models just for the contest, at least I’ll get something in. It’s not a huge deal of a bash by many people’s standards, just a refit of the cab, and some exterior upgrades, but I think it’ll look nice when finished, and I did have some interesting ideas along the way. (The big deal with that loco is the power conversion, which you can see here: http://slatecreekrailway.blogspot.com )

I’d like to do the Mallet, but I’m sure that’ll take me till this summer to get the way I want it!

So … anyone else entering? If so, what are you doing?

Matthew (OV)

Nope, no 1:20 here. Just bigger and smaller scale Bachmann bashing goin’ on.

I have a Big Hauler Tank kit, that I’d like to upsize like Ric…if I could find the time…

Hmm… my all-weather shay conversion, possibly. Or the connie with the cab moved, and all the extra bits… Hrm…

I’ve entered some of my earlier stuff; but I don’t think I’ll get the Mogul done in time - especially since I’m still not sure what to really do with it.

I thought about taking a picture of my “Bashed” Dizzie - the box of parts that’s left after it sailed off an open lift bridge

i’m going to try to make a big hauler into a 2-6-2T atleast that’s the game plan

You need to “re-stage” the bash, Jon. Have the pictures spread out on the floor…

The only thing I have is old stuff, which I may or may not submit. We’ll see. Most of my B’mann stuff is fairly simple repaints with a few added or changed details. Nothing earthshattering. My TRR #3 (2-8-0 kitbash) is really the only loco that–in my opinion–fits the spirit of the competition. I did that so long ago that I really don’t want to enter it.

scooby just started to take one apart for a 2-6-2 myself. It will be interesting to compare notes somewhere down the line. I have upscaled a 2-6-0, 2-8-0, and just finised a 4-6-0.

Nope

None of my bashes that might be Bachmann based are 1/20.3, just too big for my tiny layout. Even if I did have a Bachmann like a Connie to bash, I would be downscaling it to 1/22.5 like Kevins project for his dads layout.

I might enter my one cylinder shay, need to take a new pix or two though. Should have done that today, was nice. Oh well…

Mike,

Have you posted pictures of these engines? Sound very intersting.

  1. All entries and entered content becomes the sole property of 1:20.me and it’s operators.

Yeah, right , no chance Its mine and they cant have it.

Cheap way of getting loads of entries and ownership as opposed to doing stuff for themselves in my opinion. Lets have a contest and everything the folks send in, photos and all belongs to us, should keep the pages full for ages.

Not me sunshine.

This is jiust my opinoin of course and I am sure its not like that really…
