I had to take a trip today (middle of 75MPH gusts), and took a side trip to visit John Wilcox.
Well, all this water and wind has created a slight problem for his new railroad.
The drainage isn’t quite right.
One hill slid across the tracks, and this rye-grass is growing up between the rails.
One 6-foot section has rails under about 1" of water, another 2’ section about 1/2" deep.
I looked it over and said, “Let’s run some trains!”.
Well, he didn’t think that was possible.
NEVER give me a challenge like that!
What, 10 minutes of fingers digging muck off the track and pulling the rye-grass, I dragged my Shay out of the car, and ran on every track and spur!
John took quite a few photos, I’ll get some over here when he gets them posted.
The Shay was buried almost to the axles in water, just like Tony’s photo of olde…
I gotta add a water feature like that on the CCRy…
Aty least it will keep the dismals out…
