Antlers

Well it’s that time of year again that you can get these inexpensive antlers for you narrow gauge engines, building or wall. Always wanted to have a old time engine with antlers but was never able to find the right size or wasn’t willing to part with $10.00 + for a deer model to get some. The other day while in a big box store I found these @ only $1.98 and they seemed about the right size and after scrapping all the glitter off and a little paint I finally got my which. I will admit they are a little big for Florida deer but who knows how big they were “back in the day”antlerson engineon engine

Looks Great!

Bill;

Those antlers look good. One of the many catalogs we are getting right now for Christmas was offering large sections of elk antlers as chew toys for dogs. Claims the antler sections contain minerals that are good for a dog’s health. Who woulda’ thunk!

Guess you could give any leftover pieces to some of your large scale dog figures.

Best wishes, David Meashey

Bill, I really like the way you painted those.

I like what you did, I’m looking for some Texas Longhorns Horns for the front of one of my engines, I might look for more play like animals like you did and redue them, I hate to take a $20 longhorn cow and cut the horns off.

Did you hit one of those cute litttle guys with the locomotive? That is how they got em back in the day isnt it?

They look just right, good repurposing!

John,

I got mine on Etsy. It’s 1/12m but might work for you.

This is on my 7/8 Porter.

I also got some elk antlers, but don’t have a pic of them on an engine.

Edited: pictures disappeared. No action on my end. They were there when I posted this.

I’ll try new pictures later, but my longhorn came from here:

Boy John those would look great on the front hood on an old caddy convertible, like boss Hog style

I have one side of a longhorn skeleton by PlayMobil that features the full skull and horns. The horns are a bit blunt because the toy is intended for young children, but an Xacto blade could fix that. Toy stores that sell PlayMobil frequently have pieces like that (not part of a boxed set) at a very low cost. Worth a look if there is a store like that in your area.

Hope this helps, David Meashey

Not a bad plan they do look good you can also find them at yard sales

Toy stores? You mean there are still some around, somewhere?

If you want to try the PLAYMOBIL route, the recently reissued the longhorn skull with a couple of Wild West figurines. There parts department is really helpful in getting bits and pieces, and they don’t jack you with $15 in shipping for a $1 part.
