Another visitor on the J&B

Gary Buchanan dropped by yesterday and we headed out to the Air & Space Museum. Gary is a fountain of information and provided background on how specific planes got to be here.

Saturday started out with an early rain; Jean and I got up early to rake up some of the leaves before Gary showed up for an operations session.

We ran a train, had lunch, and ran another train. Some great challenges and great company. Good fun. Hopefully he won’t hit too much rain as he heads off to visit Bart. I’m just amazed at the number of people I’ve met online and either visited them or had them visit me. It just keeps getting better and better.

Bruce,

So the picture you took of Gary was after you raked the leaves?

I guess I can quit worrying about picking up the leaves and acorns. We can actually see some of our grass. I’ve got another week and forecasted dry weather to allow things to return something like what we call normal. Pelicans are in, in large numbers, and should stick around through the next week or until the temp really drops. We still have not had a killing frost and Jan is holding out that it will hold through the ops session.

Bruce,
Your last paragraph really shows off what kind of guy you are. Your hospitality is and should be an example for us all.
Dave

Was he as befuddled as the rest of us with Jackson? …

Jackson is just EVIL…Gary passed through here today, entirely too short a visit, we didn’t get to run trains but we did review some railroad related DVDs. I’m guessing Ken will be here ummmmm Thursday then again the following Monday?

Congrats on the article in GR Bruce!

That's my plan. I was gonna call and confirm my reservation at the Ft Gay bed and breakfast first...........;)

Bruce and Jean were the penultimate hosts not only acting as guide through the maze that the DC traffic is but feeding me as well. I enjoyed my stay very my time there very much ! Operating on the J&B was a hoot as well ! Bruce, I made it to Lewisburg where I stayed Saturday night just ahead of the rain and by Sunday morning it had cleared out.
