Tis the season and with all the posts and photos of snow plows and rotaries I thought I would add my own. I have been working on it lately and tonight put it all together and flipped the switch and it worked. The build includes a 5" fan blade inside a octagon shaped shroud attached to a USA Trains bunk car and driven by a 12 volt drill. I have a DPDT switch wired in and had planned on adding a rheostat so I could turn it on and then bring the rotary up to speed but that didn’t work so well so it is back to the drawing board with that. I have a cupola from a caboose that will be going on soon enough. There is still some details to add like a flanger and “make it look pretty” supports for the shroud. I also need to build a directional chute and “wings” to gather more snow and get it into the rotary.
Oh yeah I almost forget the paint. Teh shroud will be dark brown like the car and the blade a rusty red. AND THEN LET IT SNOW!!

Nice job Todd.
Hope you get your snow to try it out.
Myself, I’m wishing for a continued mild Winter here

Nice work Todd. I’ll look forward to seeing the finished product
Hi Todd,
I hope you get SNOW in your neck of the woods but I sure hope it won’t SNOW in my neck of the woods. I do hope the weather stays mild till Mid April, it will then be time to do lots of work on the grounds and on the railroad. By the way, that is one GREAT looking Rotary Plow. I am sure it will work GREAT on your Railroad.
Nice. Great idea using the bunk car. Put a smokestack on it
