Another one bites the dust

Very sad news from H-L-W

http://www.h-l-w.com/

Vincent;

First saw the news on another site, posted by Vance Bass. Hate to see it, as I have a LOT of their products. My interest has shifted to live steam, so I am not needing much that they make now, but I still hope they will be able to resume production someday.

Regards, David Meashey

South Bend Signals, Spilt Jaw, Colorado Model Structures, and now Hartland, it’s been a tough year or so for or segment of the hobby. Hopefully Hartland can start back up if thing level out and people all return to their 2019 settings.

I like the little Mac’s

Oh, no…

I have several locos of theirs, and was hoping they’d bring the Dutchess back. Bummer!

I had a Big John way back when I started in LS. It ran like a Swiss watch.

I think people sometimes overlook their wonderful lineup of trollies and interurbans. I don’t think any other manufacturer has offered so many choices.

Regards, David Meashey

HLW’s trollies and interurbans are quite nice, was hoping to eventually get one or two.

Well, eventually isn’t over, yet.

I wish HLW folks the good fortune to return to production.

I’ve run the rims off my Jupiter, glued them back on and kept on trucking.

I was hoping my stimulus would stretch far enough, but my old truck needs attention.

That Forney is unfortunately cute…

John;

The La Porte Forney was really dolled-up.

Best wishes, David Meashey

Got a Forney some years ago, it is slowly, as in sloooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwly being fixed up & repainted (except for boiler jacketing) for one of my freelance roadnames.

Which brings to mind a thing I really like about HLW’s products, they are sturdy, reliable, basic models which are lots of fun to customize, either minorly or majorly.

Sad to hear this.

Not reading it that way Vinny. So the dust has not been bitten yet. Perhaps now is a good time to rethink and eliminate the negativity in the hobby and promote it. I personally do not own any of their products but they seem to make a VERY solid product that is mass produced which many like !

Not sure how you are reading it any other way, they are done.

I am sure some day a goose will lay a golden egg, but it is not this day.

I own quite a bit of H-L-W products and will be sad to see them go, sorry if you deem this post as negative, it is just the facts of life.

Not at all!

I have to agree with a certain banished member here. Please READ AND RE-READ the H-L-W page. The announcement clearly says “H-L-W is closed for production indefinitely”. Indefinitely = an indeterminate amount of time, NOT permanent.

As I understand the H-L-W business, it is a secondary business of an injection molding company who provide molded products for many other customers. H-L-W runs product when there is time in the other business schedule. In this time where ALL businesses have taken serious income damage, it is not surprise to me that a secondary business like H-L-W will be shelved, NOT shuttered, in times of hardship.

Rooster has the right of it here, lets think on the positive. WHEN the economy turns more positive and the economic benefit of H-L-W will again show, they will bring it back.

I did Bob, more than once! However it’s contradictory…YES, it does say at the top in (pinkish red text) that “production is closed indefinitely”. However if you READ the rest it also says… “WE MAY REOPEN PRODUCTION DOWN THE ROAD”! But at this time,we cannot,in good faith, make any guarantees.

Take it how you wish either way it is a shame.

I look at it this way, as long as their parent business still exists there remains a possibility.

The ship is listing & down at the bow but it hasn’t sunk.

Years ago I got one of their special Disney only Lily Belle engines and absolutely love the quality of the look of it.
