It's alive. Rumors of the demise of the Toenail Ridge have been greatlly exagerated. Glad to read of the progress and sustained history. Long live the Toenail Ridge.

Good to receive the latest chapter, Phil. Keep’em coming.

I should call and catch up on everything. I'll call soon.

 Thanks,

Fr.Fred

Almost time to hear from Phibert again.....we need another tale of insperation and hope in these troubling times of Global Warming and wasted spirits (Holy water)

Philbert, my son; where art thou ?

Bless you, Fr Fred (unless you didn’t sneeze… in which case save it until you do…)
Where am I?
Hmmm…
Well, I know I feel more like I do now than I did before but apart from that, to quote the KRAFT cheese ad “Nothing’s changed, Madam!”
Kathy & I have been away to the beach a few times in our caravan (the Yanks call it a travel trailer), I’m pretty active with the local Motorcycle Riders Assn State C’tee & organizing rides, have built a Mason Bogie following Fletch’s directions from over on that other place, am well into totally scratching a Jonah 4-4-0, chassis & all, am having to come to terms with Diabetes, diagnosed last Xmas & now refusing to be controlled, have had my Rt shoulder attacked by the orthopaedic surgeon, am going in next Tues week to have a cancer removed…
…I reckon that’s about brought us up to date.
How are you anyway? Just remember that you’re only as old as the women you feel!
Speaking of old… I turn 60 on Dec 11th, we have an open house Sat afternoon Dec 8th, you are all invited! E-mail me for the address!

…should I bring whine, my son ?

Whine, bheer, shpirits, mixers, whatever.
Grease your drinkin’ elbow!
We are installing a porta-can for the day (otherwise know as a bucket)

…around here they are called “Porta-potties”

Phil, are you on insulin or orals for the diabetes? I’m on insulin and still couldn’t keep it controlled. Doctors added a second insulin and it has worked wonders.

On orals, Doug. Max dose of Metformin 3000mg/day, but it isn't doing the job. Looks like I'm going to be looking a regular prick that isn't one of your or our politicians. Fr Fred, you want more stories? OK, on the way....

Philbert, my dear friend…

Yes we all enjoy your stories…they also make great bed time reading. They put one into the relaxed mood needed for pleasant dreams and a great sleep.

I look forward to the next installment, with great appreciation of your humour, and writting skills.

Thanks, Phil, for your sharing of great writting and fun.

My insulin is Hemalog during the day and I take long-acting Lantis at night. I think insulin is by far the better way to go for control. You probably dread the idea of shots but even though I take insulin I still don’t like shots! I don’t count insulin because the needles today are so fine!

Boy, I’ve heard it’s a bitch getting old. Think I’ll wait awhile before I do…

Yes, once again I see I must remind you of those famous Jimmy Buffett lines -

“I’m growing older but not up,
My metabolical state has pleasantly stopped.
Let the winds of time blow over my head.
I’d rather die while I’m living than live while I’m dead.”

Then of course the other one is -

“We are the people our parents warned us about”

Oh good! A place to stay! Nice of you to bed us down. Much more elegant than what we have here in Port Orford. We just look for a nice high cliff. Woe to he who beds down on the beach below. :D

As for aging…nothing wrong with me that a bit of Polygrip can’t cure. hehe!

Enjoyed the latest chapter of the good folks of Toenail Ridge. Happy Birthday by the way…!
