All I can say WOW what are they thinking?? I don’t see it? This has been on before and obviously didn’t sell. I might put in a bid but the $18,000 shipping YEOUCH !
WOW! Where is HJ when we really need him?
I’ll take two please
Really???
ebay never ceases to amaze me …
I think that layout is at a hotel or some resort. I remember seeing videos and pictures of this layout on the their web site. The background mt scenery is amazing.
Oh, I am glad someone explained that. I couldn’t tell from the listing exactly what they were trying to sell, and at that price. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
dig in a bit and you can see the list of locos and cars. Yeah, someone actually did spend that much money.

I’m with Greg, I don’t think that number is really that high if you add everything up. I did a quick add and came up with 290 different items (not including the track). Divided by 127,000 you get a mere $437.93 per item. For the number of RhB items and the value that LGB sold them at, I think it’s a reasonable cost per item. Now the shipping on the other hand, I’m not sure.
The original value was/is there, BUT it’s probably going to be a hard sale in one lump sum. Shipping does seems a bit high, I suspect there alternatives to defray shipping expenses. Makes more sense IMO to break up the collection and sale off pieces individually. But you never know, its plausible someone could come along with a hankering for same and buy the lot, patience will unravel the tale.
While the cost seems at first glance extraordinary, I’d table that those with big layouts and lots of engines and rolling stock can easily get to 100K or better.

But $18,000 for shipping? Seems really high, even for that quantity. Amazing quantities though. I’ve never heard of this series, so 62 4-axle passenger cars and 25 locos is kinda mind blowing. That is, if they match. But, they probably don’t… So for these prices, they should be listing model numbers at least. It’s hard to know what one would receive.
Consider that I have somewhere north of 10k and I have no layout, primarily Bachmann motive power and mixed rolling stock. Not much LGB. From the list, there is near a full 20 foot container worth of stuff in volume. I don’t have a good feel for the weight, but I would consider the cost of the container (you may not be able to lease one as a individual), the shipping cost directly and the insurance that would be good sense to put on and the 18K for shipping is not so far out of sight.
Understood, good points. Also, due to the huge quantities, the $18k will most likely include fees charged by the company who is inventorying & packing & handling the lot.
This stuff has likely been run to death, yet they are asking next to new prices. There’s a sucker born every minute.
It’s all over priced period new or used. Later RJD
My question is:
At that price for everything and the shipping is, once it arrives, do you get to keep the shipping container???
Gonna need something to keep all that in.
