Ric, your original topic had nothing to do with trains, as for your joke that 21 million illegal immigrants depend on your tax dollars, last time I knew, if they are illegals, how can they use our tax dollars, they can’t qualify for food stamps, or welfare? Our tax dollars are going to a war which shouldn’t have been started!

you may not be aware that the supposed illegals are an instrumental part of the American economy. Only one state so far (Arizona?) has actually made it illegal to employ an illegal migrant.
The supposed 'illegals' are entrenched in the economy and any attempt to outlaw the black labour market will result in a massive negative impact on your already depressed economy. America is heading towards a recession due primarily to the home lending fallout. I really do not believe that much credence is given to the positive impact that these workers have on the economy. Some pay taxes and some do not. However, there will always be jobs that is beneath the dignity of some or simply too exhausting to carry out. It will be the illegals who jump at the opportunity to get employment.Tim I whole heartedly agree with your statement, you apparently get it. I actually supported Spitzer’s idea to allow illegals drivers licences. Why not, they already are driving on the road, why not make it legal and tax them too! You can’t get rid of them, so the only other option is to intergrate them further into society.

It’s only offensive to those that can’t read between the lines and decide that there’s more than 2 choices and the right one wasn’t included. Sociology professor put that one on the chaulk board, asked everyone to decide which they were, it’s was an eye opener! (and mind)

Tony, I have realized that some couldn’t handle a simple joke, so i got rid of it, it was not ever directed at anyone, was just a quote that I have liked and respect. i don’t understand why anyone that’s “grown up” would give it a bother or let it bother them!

I am very much aware of posting anything in the “Off Topic” portion of the Forum is subject to strong responses. I removed the joke because obviously you felt offended or just wanted to fight. I felt your signature line was insulting, because it made me want to direct anger toward you instead of debating or even wanting to speak to you about the subject at hand. Speech is very free, because some people are willing to put their lives on the line to defend it, not because some pin head decides it in a court room or someone feels they can say anything. I would suggest you take your signature line to any bar, even in your wonderful New York, on a Friday night about 10:30 and answer every response with your smart ass or dumb ass quote and I believe you will get a couple of fairly strong opinions pretty quickly.
So as I said, maybe best to just talk about trains.
Ric i actually liked your original post, i do believe it was meant in humor, as was my original response… everything else was taken way to seriously for a train website. I actually think it would be better if your original joke was still there, but that’s for you to decide…
