Jerry, catch and release.
Bizarre twist to this episode: My partner in my photo business got two calls yesterday from people looking for Dave Taylor. One from Ohio, and one from Calif. They both wanted to know if I was the guy that wrote the letter to the editor of the Silverton Standard (newspaper) about the EPA. She told them that Yes I was in Silverton recently, and that I had saw some EPA people their, But that I was a photographer, and not a retired Geologist.
She was puzzled and called me and asked if I had written any letters to the editor of late. Of course Not. We both shook it off as coincidence.
This morning I got a rare Facebook request from a man in Texas. Stating that he had found me and wanted to talk to me about the letter to the editor that I had wrote about the EPA. Now this is getting to pique my interest, I responded that I was NOT a geologist, and I had not written any letter and that I was a photographer.
Email comes in from a radio station in Texas wanting an on air interview, about the letter I wrote. Sorry wrong guy.
OK now Im really worried about what I have been blamed for.
Yet another request from Mass. for interview, But now this gentleman includes a link to the article.
Here is the link: “Please don’t turn this political” This is just for your information.
http://www.silvertonstandard.com/news.php?id=847
I read the article and think that this is just another one of the expected editorials. I forward to my parter so she can be filled in whats up.
She called be back and explains that that letter was published on July 30th, a week before the rupture. WOW! that explains why everyone wants to talk to “Dave Taylor”. If the FBI shows up on my doorstep, I’ll know why now.
Now my wife thinks that I have been moonlighting as a gelogist.
Stay tuned, It’s not over until it’s over.
BTW: still no water in my RR’s river.
Dave what stock should I buy?
Will I be happy?
Will I be sad?
Wow you really nailed that one!
John
“You” write well and know your stuff…as any kid who has tried to dam up a stream would. As to the politics. Who knows?
So, Dave, where did you study Geology, the Colorado School of Mines? Maybe it was the Evelyn Woodhead Speed Reading Course!
Evelyn Woodhead Sped Riddin’ course, my riddin’ has im-provved one hunert percent and also “comprenshun” has increased “won-der-full-lee”.
Dave either;
There is another Dave Taylor out there in Farmington.
Someone posted under your name, so he could not be identified.
In a parallel universe you were/are a geologist, and you did send that letter, from the parallel universe.
I am not a geologist, nor do I play one on TV, but I have always been told that you cannot stop water, you can only redirect it.
Edit to correct my dyslexic spelling.
UPDATE: Got yet another request for a interview, this time from a Denver TV station. But only one, things are getting back to normal. Yes there is another real Dave Taylor, geologist, in Farmington. I’v never ran into him though. I’m sure that he’s not as good looking, or as smart as me thou.
The River is kind of self flushing, and the water quality is improving. Not so much so that municipal drinking water systems can use it yet. In Durango the river has been re-opened for general usage, for rafting, swimming, and the such. Sediment testing has showed that there is no risk to the user. No comment about eating any fish taken out of the river. And those with domestic water wells in the flood plane could start using there wells.
In New Mexico, The river is still closed for recreational use, but is expected to open up again on Monday. The EPA has given approval to re-open the head gates of the irrigation ditches, so the farmers and cattlemen can get some much needed water. AND The New Mexico Northern RR’s river will run again… I’m pretty sure the first water coming down will be some really yuckie muddied stuff (not from the mine), so I’ll wait for it to clean up a bit before I open my head gate.
I think you should have accepted the request for an interview and insisted it be live. Once on the air you could have really screwed the interviewer up by denying you have any geology experience
Do the interview, and you’ll quickly meet the other Dave Taylor (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
