An unusual sight

Me in a suit. The wife in a dress, not so unusual. Unfortunately I couldn’t convince my daughter that a wedding with Hawiian shirts, shorts and flip-flops would be cool  I also had no luck trying to convince my daughter to change the date so I wouldn’t miss Raildays in Spencer :open_mouth: Women sure can be stubborn  Ralph

Chimney Rock from the balcony of Laura’s House Restaurant

And a very handsome couple, indeed!

Ralph, I don’t even own a tie, let alone a suit. I’m the dude at weddings and funerals in jeans and shirt.
And for some reason, those people are still my friends…(The ones with the suits…   )

Only one time in your life you should have to wear a suit, and that is questionable. That is when you DON’T know you are wearing it at your funeral!!! Because of cremation now you don’t really have to worry about it then either! The Regal

p.s. before the rivet counters jump in I did have to wear a suit and tie 2-3 days sometimes twice a month when I was a salesman, and that was only at sales meetings, when I was out in the field dressed nice but no suit, sportcoat, or tie. I always felt it alienated the customers, and by just wearing casual they felt more at home buying from me that way, looking just like them.

When the wife and I got married, I only owned one tie, only because it was issused to me, for my dress blues…

JB, Thanks for the kind words. I didn’t own a suit, or a tie, until my daughter informed me I would, in no uncertain terms, be wearing one to give her away. The wife has finally stopped beating me because I posted our (her)picture instead of the newlyweds. So, to avoid further injury…

Please don’t tell the wife I snuck in another picture of her. What she doesn’t know, won’t hurt me  Ralph

Geez, didn’t recognize ya with out the hat…Whoodat???.

Good Lookin Couple ! You sound shorter on the internet . You look a little like Billy Bob Thornton.

Not half bad, really! One down and how many to go? Now on that second picture, do you think it would make a difference if your wife has a bit more ammo? Nah!!!

Ralph,
Two nice looking couples. Congrats to the bride and groom. Does that mean you have a new fireman/brakeman for your line now. Or haven’t you converted him.

Dave

I look hot no matter what I wear!

Nah,
He’s not converted…yet.
I did convert a friend and his wife who came up from the SC. Coast for the wedding.
In the two days he was here he had already planned his own GRR complete with a water feature.

Ken,
My brother didn’t recognize me when I first approached him in the suit. I could tell by the puzzled look on his face.

Ralph,

A good friend of mine was just shaking his head when reading this thread. His question: “What do these Yanks wear when getting married?” My reply: “It’s a step up from the RR overalls”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ralph,
Congratulations on the wedding of daughter. Now, just take a couple of days to kick back, relax, and not do much of anything to recover. Then, start highballing again.

JimC.

I could do the coat, but I got a bull neck so ties are right out, unless you want me to pass out…

My oldest daughter is 16, if she insists on me wearing a tie “to give her away”. I will offer her two words of advise, “Then elope!” (bet you were thinking of 2 others, but she’s my baby girl, and it’s a family forum, lol)

Now-a days you can rent a monkey suit pretty reasonably in most places. Just sayin’…

This from someone with not one but two tuxedos in his closet, lot’s of vests and bow ties and a few cumberbuns & ties . At least two suit jackets and more neck ties than any man deserves. A by-product of being involved in Lodge with my friends & Amaranth with my wife and our friends. It’s not a bad thing but cuts into my train time dratically right now.

Chas

Congrats Ralph–a proud day for you and well earned

Now pull that tie tight!

Now I could a put face with the posts. Let me guess coming from the mountains of NC you wear jeans and a flanel. Thats my style. Throw a little banjo playing in the mix.
