Large Scale Central

An LGB Index maybe?

Maybe Bob should consider creating another index to the Forum… entitled “LGB” to discuss the Financial and Corporate solvency of LGB.

While I’m marginally interested in LGB’s future as any Large Scaler is, some of you have elevated following their struggles to religious status.

Somewhere in all of the postings over the last year someone has reported how many rolls of toilet paper the LGB corporate office is buying.

If we don’t get a new index, would it be possible to turn down the volume just a bit on LGB?

Thank You

Jeez! If they turn down the volume on LGB they will just beat their chests more bragging about their military service…:frowning:

Warren,

There’s no way I can compete in that sector, with my measly seventeen weeks and … let’s see … four days.

I can’t even beat my chest about how much I did to keep the defense industry sector going. When they called I was always busy, even when it came to subcontracting. I’m really “foolish” in that respect.

Marvin,

Remember LSC welcomes people form all walks of life, as long as one doesn’t get personal lots of subjects find a spot - Off-Topic seems very popular.

There is still a slight problem with the “personal”, since some participants apparently “exhaust” their valid reasoning rather soon.

Actually it appears the “personal” comes about when “some” become too full of their own self worth.

To paraphase a saying by Will Rogers, “When you think you have become so important and knowledgable, try to get someone else’s dog to follow your commands.”

Marvin,

I thought it came about when some run out of valid arguments, like when called on the “reliable source” business.

Now on that dog:

Many years ago I did some troubleshooting on a large Italian boring mill - very tricky, inconsistent problem - the Italian owners of the company “employed” a rather fierce, well trained German shepherd. Fierce enough that some of the employees wouldn’t stay an extra minute once the dog was brought in from his kennel.

They told me all about it during lunch break the one day.

“Ah go on, can’t be that bad!”
“Well why don’t you walk over to the kennel and see what happens!”

The dog jumped right at me!

So I talked to him a bit and calmed him down. Then I told him to “SIT”, after that it was “DOWN”. Right on command he did.
Oh yeah, the plant employees were flabbergasted.

I’m just waiting to hear which comedy flick this was supposed to have happened in, too.

That doesn’t mean that I’m that important or knowledgable, it just means that I have an excellent rapport with canines. Man’s best friend!

HJ, alpha dog. Possibly Bernese Mountain.

So this German shepherd in Italy spoke English .
There’s a good basis for a film plot .

Mike

I hope this excellent rapport with canines does not extend to cocking your leg up a lamp post every so often .

Let me explain for those who are a bit confused … the province of Ontario has a very large immigrant population, among them many, many Italians. Quite a number of those Italians are in the metal working industry from structural steel fabrication to high precision tooling. Naturally when they buy machinery they look out for “Made in Italia”.

Oh, I do too...it's call a "Hush Puppy". A dog of the type you mentioned probably had been severely abused......doubtful, if anyone had been kind to it ever.....so the least evidence of kindness was welcome.....However, I would not try that with a well trained and well cared for guard dog.

And you are incorrect…beasts & humans will let you down, sooner or later…Man’s best friend is steel…I prefer the cold blued variety, myself.

You have a loyal fan…Is he a Man’s Best Friend which you have excellent rapport?

Nah, I bite little old ladies, growl at small children and generally hate everyone. Just ask Fr. Fred He’s been trying to exorcize me for years; the holy water evaporates when it touches me. But, just for the record, my mother’s name is not Rosemary.
The Swiss make passable chocolate and nice trains.
Gaaah! I said something nice. Time to go chomp some garlic Limburger and exhale on the neighbours.

Marvin,

The problem with guesswork based on “not so reliable sources” = quite often wrong. That you would like a piece of inanimate matter better than a dog … hmmmmm … OK by me, was to be expected.

On the German shepherd guard dog. Wellll, you know my curiosity; I asked the owner and I actually know which training academy the dog came out of  . The dogs that go there, get trained.

I know, it is surprising, isn’t it.   I won’t bore you with my other dog stories, but I have dozens.
