An interesting poll

…taken at another website.

Brands of R/C used by LS’ers.
Least popular to most popular.

Cicuitron 0% (0)
Lenz 0% (0)
HOTE 0% (0)
ESU Lockpilot 0% (0)
NCE 1% (1)
QSI 2% (2)
Digitrax 2% (2)
Gwire 2% (2)
TE 27 MHz Onboard 4% (4)
RCS 5% (5)
MTH 6% (6)
TE 75 MHz Onboard 7% (7)
AirWire 9% (9)
TE 27 MHz Trackside 21% (20)

Other 40% (39)

Given that pretty well every brand of R/C you can think of is surveyed, I for one would like to know exactly what makes up OTHER.

They can’t all be using Locolinc, EVO and Railboss. Can they?

Those polls (TTT) are terrible. They are usually poorly worded and designed. They are just an excuse for a bunch of old guys to talk about themselves and pretend someone actually cared.
That particular poll only allowed you to choose one option. It did not allow you to choose multiple systems. So I (and it looks like many others) chose "Other’. I have a couple of your units and a 27mHz TE.

-Brian

It would be right that the Aristo TE would be 1st. But that’s just an interface between the power supply and the track. Just about everyone tried that when it first came out. And a whole lot of people still use it.
I really wouldn’t consider it true RC, even if it is.
I think the poller should have stated on board RC only.

I have no experience with any of the others listed, except AW and RCS.

Lets try a poll here:
It doesen’t matter if you own 1 unit, several units of the same kind, or units of different kinds.
Just list them as what you use. And no “why I think one is better than another discussion.”

I use Air Wire

At the moment, I use Aristo’s train engineers, both the 27 and the 75 MHZ systems…

I have used the RCS system at Ric’s, and I do like the performance very much… When funds become available, I would like to use that in my NW-2’s and 44 tonner…

I have also used locolink, and don’t care for it…

i use a lot of air wire and a couple Aristo 27 (on board).

14 TE tracksides on board, have an OE and an RCS RX unit I haven’t used yetas I don’t have an RCS TX

I have 2 Aristo 75’s, an Aristo 27 Trackside pressed into a trailcar w/ batteries, a Velvet Touch, and an Air Wire.

Gonna try Tony’s setup (which I have used on the Consolidated Colorado and like a lot) as soon as funds break loose, and maybe a QSI with the Airwire.

Then, I may be able to decide which I like best. :stuck_out_tongue:

Currently own (& have not yet used)

1 RCS reciever unit to be paired with a traditional RC car transmitter. (I think it is RCS?) To which I think I have an old Aristocraft transmitter or Futaba transmitter left over from my Rc car & boat days.
1 Airwire Transmitter new still in box (T9000 I think?) and 1 reciever that came installed in a used loco awaiting parts.
1 old Three channel Aristocraft Transmiiter and reciever with a large Futaba servo that will be hacked to power a railcar from diecast truck conversion.

RCS and EVO

cale

Gentlemen.
What is EVO?
Velvet Touch?
OE?

EVO is the sister of RCS (both made by Tony), utilizes the 2 stick FM Radio (RC Car type) over the playing card sized TX-24…a nice low cost alternative to others and it offers tremendous range!

Ooooops I didn’t mean to start an “I have this” commentary.

What intrigued me was the methodolgy they used in the survey so they could end up with a 40% OTHER figure.

There was another part to that survey I haven’t put up.

When asked about whether or not the participants would buy the new Crest REVOLUTION they said:
Yes - Exclusively. Replacing what I have. 10% (10)
Yes - but I will add to what I have. 26% (25)
No 64% (62)

Given Mr Polk has claimed that the REVOLUTION is “Better than DCC”, I would like to be a fly on the wall when he sees those figures.

<<Ooooops I didn’t mean to start an “I have this” commentary.>>

You didn’t, Tony.
I was just curious what our guys use.
No big deal.

RCS
–and–
RCS

Planning to use RCS / EVO in my standard gauge (70.6mm) locomotives because I have the transmitters in stock.

Future locomotive conversions will also use RCS.

Happy RRing,

Jerry

I have converted 3 of my engines over to onboard battery, all using the RCS

QSI/G-Wire/Airwire T9000 throttle. The Regal Whoops I do have two Trackside TE’s

2 Trackside T/E’s with 3 RX units. 1 set in a trail car with a drill battery, the other used for track power. I’ve not needed the third RX yet. If I can cram it in the tender with some batts, it will probably end up in my Connie.

I’ve used the RCS system and really like it. It’s on my list if I ever have spending money again

Velvet Touch is a pretty good system, unfortunately, it is no longer made. They went out of business in 2004/5, somewhere back then.

I have 1 Locolinc unit. It was my first RX.

A bunch of Aristo TE’s 27 and 75, both battery and track power.

4 RCS units, professionally installed with sound by TOC. Excellant.

Now how about your buds or clubbers that don’t post here.
If my memory serves me…(This doesn’t count the 2 that have posted–Mike Williams and Featherkile.)
