On another thread, the cost of figures was mentioned. The solution was quite amusing.
I would like to bring up Playmobil. With some careful shopping, some of their figures can be useful. Not to mention vehicles and other accessories. I will say that if you are modeling an industrial or field railway, Playmobil figures seem to fit right in.
The nice thing about them is the fact that they are easily recognizable as to their function. Their personalities are very clearly recognized by the clothing or uniforms they are wearing. They are posable. An asset. Hats can be changed. Entire themes are available.
