Amtrak's "Salute to Veterans"

The Amtrak Exhibit train was in Hamlet, NC. for the Seaboard Festival.
Power for the train was the “Salute to Veterans” unit and the F40PH “Anniversary” unit.
The Veterans unit is absolutely gorgeous!

Nice, Ralph…

Ditto!..

Thanks, Great looking engine.

OK my ignorance, Why two engines? Is one jest in case the other fails out on the line? Or were they showing off the two different paint schemes?

Dave,

Ralph states that it’s an “'exhibit”" train… They are 2 different locomotive types, and both are in ““special”” paint schemes…

My thoughts would be that they run the units together for the exhibition display…

Nice- Where was she going?

Dave,

I’m sure Andy’s reasoning for why these two locomotives, is spot on.

I just found out this F40PH has no prime mover. It’s basically a baggage car with traction motors.

Phil,
They were heading to Raleigh, NC. from Hamlet. I don’t know where they’re spending the week.
But the train will be in Meridian, MS. on November the 2nd, for their Railfest.
It will be joined there by Norfolk Southern’s Veterans locomotive.
