A friend rode Amtrak down from Philly for a visit and took a few pictures for me. I believe these pictures were taken in DC. Quite the experience dropping her off at Spartanburg for the return trip. The train was an hour late and didn’t leave until almost 1:00am. The man “working” the gate at Spartanburg was drunk and very rude. I’m still not sure if he was actually working or just some bum trying to feel important. Either way, he came very close to having the sh*t stomped out of him. Ralph

Cool. I rememeber my first year in college I went to High Point University and I would take the Amtrack from Newark to High Point. Did it a few times a year. I even did it to FL. once.

Sure looks like a heritage diner to me. Definitely not a 1700 series baggage. Take a look and see what you think: Amtrak Heritage Diners Amtrak 1700 Baggage cars
Matt,
I have slobered all over Hebners site for quite some time but never looked at the Diners (why I don’t know) but I think you may be on too it! Still can’t find a close enough match to Ralphs original photo too say yeah or ney.
Nice call though!
Thanks

It does not have the windows for a dinner. Guess that’s where the put roosters before they get ready for a meal. Later RJD
