Amtrak visits Asheville

The North Carolina Transportation Museum ran an excursion train to Asheville. Heading into Old Fort.

Coming out of the Swannanoa tunnel.

Some of the more interesting coaches in Asheville

Running around the train

Nice !! Private Varnish trains are always fun to photograph.

Stuff like that really blows my dress up!

Some of those cars look oddly familiar…

I didn’t count, but it was around 25 cars. They had a boatload of standard Amtrak coaches.
The rest belonged to various historical groups and clubs.

When I was getting the tunnel shots, my brand new batteries went dead in the camera. I got the one shot coming out of the tunnel. By the time I changed batteries, I was able to get the shot of the Northern Pacific Dome car as it went by me.

A lot of railfans showed up to take pictures along the route from Old Fort to Asheville. They created enough traffic we couldn’t beat the train from Old Fort to Andrew’s Geyser.
