Large Scale Central

Amtrak NextGen Acela

While at Washington Union Station I saw a model of the loco and two cars of the Acela NextGen mode on display in the main hall. What tweked my curiosity is that the gauge looked likr 45mm and the scale more like 1:29 then 1:32. Perhaps 3D printed

Have no idea who modeled it but if the company could be found it would be an interesting discussion about producing additional copies.

Below video link from the platform at New Carrollton this morning.

Pictures of the model?

Alas I did not take one. However I found a video on the internet that included the model. This one was in NYC. So unless they moved the model to DC (unlikely) whoever made it has the ability to produce multiple copies.

Stan, don’t give Rooster all this excitement!
He might have a coronary event. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I still cant get over how much the cars resemble the failed Turbo Train that ran in New York State.

Alstom makes the trains, perhaps they also make the models as promo items.

Amtrak copied this Turbo Train (Tyco 1986)
