Amtrak Aniversary Train

Among the special visitors to the North Carolina Transportation Museum was the Amtrak Aniversary locomotive.

It was hot as h*ll at Spencer, so a tour of the air-conditioned Amtrak was a huge relief from the heat. Here you can see how compact the sleeper unit is. Below the fold down sink is a comode. Tight quarters, but the AC worked well

The Dining car.

The Dome Lounge.

Low ceiling height, but not as low as upstairs.

I could not stand anywhere near upright. Very hot up here too.

Surprise, surprise…look what we have on the back of the train

Not BAD, now if it would go where I need to go, SW North Dakota to work it would be great, but alas the train runs on the north side of the state!

Sure be nice if Amtrak repainted more Gennies this way. Many of them could use a new paintjob.

I agree. Sharp looking paint scheme. And you're right about many needing paint. Most of the ones I see are pretty rough looking. Ralph

That freakin rules !!!
Great pics Ralph…you have no idea how you have helped me!
Oh…BTW not the bronze tint on the EMD unit
