American style Street lights

Guys I want to make some street lights, using LED’s. I managed to make some with round globes that looked quite good. But, I would like to make some with the Boulevard type Glass tops. I have seen them all over the States.

Now here is the Crippler, does anybody know where I can buy just these types of Globel/lantern. The lifelike lamps are too big to my eye. I only want the tops. Any idea’s? Perhaps if I could get one, I could cast some with clear resin?

Thanks for any help.

I though LGB made a wall lantern type street light. It might be of use.

Rod,

It looks like an upside down miniature wine glass, but the stem is too short. There may be a dollhouse setting piece that is the size you want, but that stuff is pricey.

Print 1 cast many?

As suggested check out dollhouse stuff as you will probably find what you need. However if you want to go on a hunt for something that is close check out lamp chain pulls or ceiling fan pulls at your local home improvement store or on the WWW. I also would suggest Michaels or AC Moore craft stores jewelry making section but your in the UK and don’t know if they are over there nor do I know what stores are like them over there.

Just some thoughts

Thank you for all of your suggestions gents, food for thought.

I’ll probably have to turn one up on my lathe and cast them in clear resin.

Look around the bead section of Michaels, Hobby Lobby or somesuch?

If you plan to turn one and then cast some with resin, will there be a space inside for a 5mm LED? If they are solid, a 5mm hole will allow these lamps to be lighted. In fact dozens of them could be lighted if they are LED.

Thats the plan Dick. I bought a set of Christmas tree lights a couple of years back. They are totally round. The had led’s inside so it was easy to turn them into street lights. However, it was early days for me with leds and I didn’t realise that they corroded so quickly with out being lacquered for outdoor use.

I now have better results, in longevity, by lacquering all of the wires and terminals.

Well, now, don’t be getting all lacquered up.
