Large Scale Central

Almost nostalgic

Way back when, in the early 50s when I got my first electric train, I “really needed” a tunnel - quite logical on a Swiss railway. What I got was one of those preformed green and brown blobs to straddle the track - but I soon progressed to silhouette mountains fashioned from corrugated cardboard. On the present layout (in the building stage) I need a mountain on the elvated section as a view block.

It will be the modern version of that blob from long ago, removable to pack it away during the winter.

Yaah HJ, bringing it in during a windy winter might be a good idea.

Hey HJ did you carve the detail in the blue foam for your tunnel portal? It looks good.

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

Yes I did. It was the old method, similar to what I did in HOm. The new method hasn’t been “finalized”. It will be tile cement on styrofoam that either has been craved already or will be carved when the cement sets. I’ll report on the different results soon.

@ Vic

That looks like one hell-of-a papermaché job! From a crazy Dutchman? Go figure.
