One of the first buildings I plan on building for the new layout is a freight house. I wanted something small and simple to fit my theme. At times when working in Allamuchy State Park I pass this freight house. It has always appealed to me because its simple rustic looking and has a neat story behind it. I have to get some close up photos of it but here is a link to it http://njmidland.railfan.net/allamuchy.htm
That’s a cute looking little freight house. You should build the little station also, they would look good together on your railroad.
That is a great looking freight house. Looks like they saved it just in time. A nice winter project.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Very nice little station, much like the RR office building I am constructed with a 3D printer. It was originally at Kramer (CA) but later moved to Boron (CA). After many years of service on the Santa Fe, it is now at the Twenty Mule Team Museum in Boron.
Is it done yet, Shawn? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
It’s good to see that it’s being restored. There’s another one that sits on RT40 near Woodstown, NJ, looks a lot like that one. Looks like it got moved there from somewhere else since there’s no evidence of a RR ever running through there.

Nice ! But such a shame to see old restored RR buildings . . . . . with NO TRACK in front of them !
Yea, I agree. A station or freight house should have track.
I did manage to finish the project. Sorry not much of a build log. I tried something a little different. I always liked how Ken did his buildings so I decided to go that route. I used the voting sign board material as my base. My usual rout was either stick frame or thick plywood. I found cutting out windows etc…was difficult with the tools I had. Stick frame is nice but does take more time. The sign board proved to be the way to go. It was much easier to cut out my shapes (shut up Rooster). I used PVS board as braces on the inside. I like this because I could use glue and then use screws to hold it l together.

Once the main body was together I glued wood planks to the sides and finished off with siding. Doors were added and then the roof with some overhang braces. My original plan was leave it natural wood but decided that the yard area could use some buildings with color. Really the guys got a load of cranberries from south Jersey. Since they couldn’t eat all of it they decided to use it as stain for the new freight house. After being painted I added a metal roof. Eventually the roof will be rusted but Im waiting for mother nature to do that. Some bottle caps and a deck were added to finish it off.
