AccuCraft’s great new steamer, the EBT #12, gave me the glimmer of hope that it might just be affordable over here in UK.

At last, I thought, a dealer has it in his stock list…

£4187.23…

That’s, wait for it, $6867.05…

I’ll be watching the videos for a good while yet.

it’d be cheaper to fly to the US, buy one, stuff it in a suitcase and bring it back with you

Those prices are almost what a funeral cost.
Probability what some may need if they spent that much on an engine.
Of coarse I don’t have that problem any more since my wife passed away this summer.
But I still wouldn’t spend that much for a loco.

It would be cheaper to charter a yot to the Bananas, private helicopter to the mainland, and then charter a Lear jet to AccuCraft’s nearest airport.

That price is just too ridiculous for words.

tac;

As one of my old bosses used to say: “At least Jessie James had the decency to carry a gun!”

Best,
David Meashey

Tac,

On their website the price over here is $3499.00. For the difference you could take delivery at Diamondhead in January, have money to spare, and have a week of running steam and drinking IPA.

Tom, every word you say it nothing but the truth…few things in life could be better.

Royce tells me he has a couple of them left at the original price - $3000.

P.S. This thing is HEAVY. Heavier than my RYM #15. No way you are going to take it in yuour hand luggage.

Tac,
You could pack up and move to Oregun.
No sales tax.

John - apart from going back to Canada for good, that would certainly be our next choice - the Good Lord knows there is enough spare space out there to take two small people and their stuffed vulture.

Sadly, it can never happen, for reasons beyond our control.

But I WILL get there to stay one fine day, even if it’s in powder form.

Hey Tac,
You know, I would take it home with me and bring it every year so you could run it! ( my first post here!)

Yeah, cool intro there, Larry - to offer to kibbitz a poor guy’s train off him…

Only kidding.

Welcome, BTW.

Me and Diamondhead are likely to remain strangers for as long as the temperature there stays above 20C/68F. I’m a cold-hearted bear, me, and working almost seven years in Tokyo was a pre-taste of hell.

‘To err is human, but to ARRRRRRRHHHH is to be a pirate…’

Tac,

If all it is that temperature is the dissuader, the temperature in Diamondhead, MS can be downright cool, '20s and even teens at night, and seldom getting into the '70s on the warmest days in early January. Compared to Michigan, where I live now, or Duluth, MN, where I was married, and I have lived through a 39 below morning, Mississippi is the place to be in January.

Besides, we seldom venture outside, except to replenish the Tasmanian Blue Cheese, crackers, and IPA. Just ask Gordon Watson.
