Excellent!
I love build threads!

Decided to keep the color simple on the paint job so I don’t screw up my hard work with lack of painting skills Found 1 photo of this 628 that would be probably the easiest to do (now first photo in the thread)

It’s at this point he cab pissed me off and I started to give up on this project

Went through and updated the pictures, will be reworking this project soon, still stumped on the trucks, the alco trimount trucks on the lgb is nothing like whats on these beasts

What about modding some USA SD40-2 trucks ?

For me, a D&H fan, the trucks on this ALCO is very significant to the demise of the ALCO/D&H relationship, basically these trucks destroyed tracks and were hard to maintain, which was a final blow to ALCO and the D&H

the wheels are not centered like SD40-3 trucks

This was my last attempt at regular alco trucks like 4 years ago

Ahhhh…nice I see the offset now …once again like I have always said “it’s what the eye catches and scale matters not”. Had you not brought that to my attention I would never have noticed.

Truth!

I have a PC HO unit some where. I think it’s a 5 series though

What about a four wheel truck with a dummy axle spaced closer in front? I made a truck out of a block of wood with BBrg axles fastened to it.

this engine is a dummy right now with truck blocks made of wood

Joe do you have pics of how you put your trucks together

There are grooves cut into the block to keep the axles straight.

I’m thinking 3 axle passenger trucks can be modofied a lot easier and just making the 628 a dummy

Apparently Joe, we were both taaking pictures at the same time, kinda like the block idea to set the wheels in and space the wheels correctly, then I can rip apart the passenger trucks and use the boxes and springs, then make the arch parts, hmmm

I cut down a set of USA SD sideframes to 1/32 scale. It wasn’t bad. I used a razor saw and mitre box. They glued up well. I was going to cast them solid out of plastic and never did.

that middle axle is solid and floats in a cable clamp. The end two axles are ball bearing and are screwed on tight.
My design!
