Hi all,
Friend of mine - just so happens to be the importer and distributor for ZIMO in NA - built a little display arrangement. Imagine two parallel tracks which converge to one, then part back into two parallel tracks. Some track and two turnouts.
Well, I picked up one of those nifty MX82V decoders (small enough design to fit inside an EPL turnout drive) and he demonstrated the autofunction of his set-up once more.
Of course it is all DCC controlled, but the neat part is: The ZIMO central unit does all of the automatic sequencing - no computer interface, no computer and only one track contact (isolated section which sends a reference impulse to the control unit) - slick as all get up. That is if that kind of thing floats your boat.
Anyway in order to achieve the sequencing the control learns the steps while the operator carries them out, very similar to recording a macro function in certain software programs.
Just as soon as I get the turnout decoder installed I’ll have to give that a whirl. Oh yeah, I need to install a ZIMO sound decoder in my second steamer, too.
It will be extended power and sound on the Test Loop!
