Advice wanted

I do not have any 3 axle engines and not sure which ones would look best for this model, I’d really like alco tri-mount trucks like the original however my modeling abilities are poor at best

Well if you’re going for an ALCO look I’d consider the LGB ALCO 6-wheel truck. Would run forever and a day but I don’t know where you could get a pair for “reasonable” cost. It’s likely the closest to the look you want.

didn’t realize that lgb even did a diesel, $1000 for a pair of trucks is a bit much. thinking either a usa or aristo truck might be more affordable even though they aren’t the right style

You might find a “Rio Grande” version on ebay for around $300.00 if you look long/hard enough. If the Alco look is not as critical to you as just using a 6-wheel truck, then I would say give USA a try. My USA SD40-2’s have functioned flawlessly over the years. It will limit you to 8’ min diameter curves but they are nice trucks. My guess is the cost of the SD40 trucks would be comparable to a used LGB Alco on ebay…

I love them Alco’s myself…The USA SD40-2 is an articulated truck and would probably look good if your not gonna wake the Devil up for the details …IMO

Mark. “poor at best” doesn’t get something like that from fencing. Nice job! You might be able to find the LGB truck from a dealer who has parts. Maybe Axle at Train Li can find you a pair of the LGB truck. I know that 3 axle LGB model was just reissued so there has to be some parts around some where.

I agree with Todd, you are a lot better modeler than you give yourself credit for. Thats a real nice job so far on that Alco.

HURRY!!!
