Advice on making homemade tracks

I have a few railcars, mainly 1:32 locomotives. These are made from kits by Occre. I am considering making my own tracks. These will be static displays, no no need for anything fancy. But I would like some assistance in making sure that the ties are the right size and suitable to the 1:32 scale. The distance between the wheel rims is approximately 42 mm. To prepare and cut the wood to size, can anyone tell me what would be suitable widths and lengths for the ties? I’m not worried about the thickness, since I will probably show these as being partially buried. Thanks, Carl

US railroad ties are roughly 7x9 inches and 8 1/2 feet long. Pretty easy to set up a table saw with some spacers and rip out some tie stock and cut them to length.

generally said: the distance between wheels times two looks adecuate.
so in your case about 85mm x 8mm x 10mm.
(just for being lazy - the LBG ties are 90mm x 9mm x 11mm)
