Thanks David - The Cigar store is waiting for you to build it.
I did and my son helped as well  Gotta make the best outta the 9yrs I got left with him as he's 1/2 way there! ;)
You got that right. And if he's anything like my son Matthew you can't even count on 18 years. Once he had a license, and access to a car, we hardly saw him any more. Now, on the other hand, my older son Aaron nearly had to be pushed out of the house, twice!

Enjoy every minute. You’ll never get them back.

BTW - The Cigar Store looks awesome

I don’t know if I mentioned this before, but the plan has been scaled back for this year. I’ll finish the track leading across the diamond to a trans-load station just beyond the crossing. That will be it until fall when I will try and get the other branch started to create a second siding. Connecting the two as a loop will probably wait until next spring. There is just too much other stuff going on.

With this scaled back plan in mind, the grading crew took advantage of good weather late last week and Saturday to back-fill the new roadbed and install some rocks to create a border for a new garden area between the tracks.

Sunday it rained so I went up in the attic to find my track stash and took apart enough 5 footers to create the new siding

Last night I drug out my trusty and now dusty Aristo Rail Bender and created the curves. I was surprised, and happy, with how shallow the curve turned out. Then I discovered the part I hate most about bending 1 rail at a time - putting the tie strips back on. Finally finished that chore about 11 last night.

Next up is pruning the rail to exactly fit the spot, then painting. With a little luck the first revenue car to the Walk Landing Trans-Load Facility can be scheduled for the weekend.

I’ve been lax at taking pictures. Each time I think of it, the light is bad. I’ll try and get some this evening of the progress.

YOU best be coming to York in September and get that Cigar Store you ordered or I’m gonna start charging you property tax for the real estate it resides on…my workbench!!

Looking good. I guess you have been getting the same weather as here in NJ. Seems like for every nice day we get we get a few days of rain. The nice days we do get the skeeters, shadow flies and nats are horrrible. At least I have my micro on30 layout to keep me busy. Although I realy ned to start building my logging camp. We had an F2 tornado hit my area last week. Came 200yards pass my house. Thats the first F2 to ever hit my area. Just glad it did not run through my property it made a mess where it did pass. Here is what it did the silo lost its roof and barn collapsed

Yes - very similar weather here. Two tornadoes in CT in one month. We usually get one every 5 years or so. Glad you escaped it. The ones here were quite far away. We got heavy rain, but no wind damage.

OK, Here are the promised pictures. I’m going to include a few old ones for direct comparison. The grading crew finished up the roadbed…

New track from Walk Landing - FF: Click to Enlarge - IE: Right Click Photo and select Open Link in New Window to Enlarge I really will start that new post on the trans-load facility. I saved a few close=up pictures for a new thread. Once the new track was all cut-in I pulled it back up to prep and paint. Rain forecast for tomorrow evening, so I’ll get the masking done on the dining room table and plan to paint Thursday night and lay track Friday night.

Jon I really like the trackwork in that area.Looks like a lot of action potential in a small space. Great work

Dave

Nice Jon, real nice.

looks good, Jon…

Where’s the Cigar Store???
Oh that’s right…it’s taking up space in my shop waiting for you to pick it up?

We should be going right by you in October on the way to or from EBT. When that gets closer we should make plans. I'm definitely not coming to the fall York show.

Moved reply to “Operations” section.

JOn, Not sure how your coming...but throw me an e-mail closer to the time. I'm approx. 10mins west of Harrisburg. EBT is approx 45 to and hour from here.

We usually come across 78/81 and pick up 76 in Carlisle. It looks like just a short detour to your neighborhood. I’ll email you with the dates and you can see how your schedule looks.

Cool ..if your interchanging at Carlisle were fat city! I have a request though. You need to bring something to run on the CVRR as it's a must!! Kinda hoping for your NW high hood...but rolling stock is more than exceptable! ;)

I think that can be arraigned. You track power, or do I need to bring a battery trailer car? Cant bring 'em all, but I've also got that pair of LV RS-3s and a WM oddball to go with it in an RS-3 triple header. The speakers are all set up for MU connection to my cheesy sound car. Ran that set up at Fred's 3 years ago. I think Ric has pictures.

OK - Back on topic… We are AHEAD of schedule this week !!! Track was both painted and planted tonight. It was nearly dark when I got the last screw in so pictures will have to wait.

Ballast, photos and a test train tomorrow if the weather holds.

Back on topic…but yes track power.

Jon,
What are you using for ballast?
Crusher fines?
