I have 3 pair of Accucraft trucks plus the couplers. Over the winter I would like to build 3 short log cars similar to the Accucraft ones. I know the basic overall dimensions but if anybody has these cars I would like to know actual bunk size, frame size, etc. They will not have all the detail that Accucraft cars have, I just like the proportions of them and they will be strickly ops style. (read: no fine details).
Thanks Randy
I built twelve cars using the plans from GR a while back - it took me a week of evenings, without a table saw. I used a bunch of Bachmann arch-bar trucks I got for a song at a train show, and a few Ozark NBW and so on. Reinforcing bunk straps were made from K&S metals off-cuts. ‘Brake’ cylinders were made from pieces of dowel and bits and pieces. Covered with three or four logs, the finer detail of the AccuCraft models is not needed. What IS needed is a set of metal wheels in each truck. And suitable Ka-Dees of course. They cost me five times more than the rest of the car material.

Thanks tac…Yes my trucks have metal wheels and I will be using AMS couplers to match the rest of my rolling stock. Don’t have access to the GR plans so I was hoping someone would have the Accucraft cars to give a few dimensions.
